Although you may feel weak about it, if you have not lifted any weights recently, start out with a lower weight dumbbell. Once you are comfortable with those, you can then move on to heavier weights.

It is important that you train yourself slowly and not rush into heavy weights otherwise you may injure yourself and depending on your ability to heal, it could take some time.
