The definition of Self-Care:
What is self-care and why do we need it?
It is normal to go through difficulties in life and difficulties are often to be expected. Unfortunately, for various reasons, some difficulties can severely harm our self-esteem and feelings of self-worth. And this can lead to perpetual low feelings about ourselves, which can be worsened when we feel a lack of concern from others for our feelings. We end up feeling bad about ourselves, insufficient or lacking, fueling depression, and when we do seek consolation or to be validated by others, we can be disappointed when it is not enough or what we really needed. The cycle of low self-worth continues perpetually and we live without happiness or contentment in our day-to-day lives.
Every human being needs love to survive. The most pertinent example of this is the very fact that infants can be fed and nourished in orphanages, but still die prematurely merely due to lack of love! So we human beings need love to survive- and more than that, to thrive...
If we do not get love from others, we must give that love to ourselves.
Every human being has value. Every woman has value. We are all uniquely made with strengths and weaknesses and a beautiful side, and a flawed side.
We must recognise our value, change our self-talk and consciously make efforts to see ourselves more positively and with more compassion and consideration. This can be done in many ways! Whether it is changing negative self-talk to positive self-talk, taking on hobbies or goals to be happier or achieve something, or distancing from toxic people to heal, all these methods make the goal of self-love and healing very achievable.
The rewards that come with self-care and self-love are numerous. When you love and value yourself, you can live much more fulfilled and happy and less affected by others and difficult circumstances in life. It makes you stronger, more positive and more determined to overcome challenges and improve, and in turn, that makes you very attractive and interesting as well.
The best part, in my opinion, is how little other people can influence and affect your feelings in a negative way.
The self-love journey is definitely a journey worth being on, as it is amazing how much you can learn, grow and heal, be grateful for the good things and your life, and then in turn uplift and empower others afterwards! :)
Welcome to the journey!
